Worldly experience alone will induce a sense of dejection in man. We can never be content with the pleasures of family or worldly life. Discontent will start brewing automatically. This is how, even millioners find life without any charm after enjoying all the luxeries, money offer to them. Intrinsically they understand that all this is a drama in the stage of life and nothing lasts beyond a certain time. This is the experience of ordinary man too. Every day and every time he has to satiate his hunger and thirst. The little pleasures he happen to enjoy fade away like the clouds in the sky. Hence, for all beings in this world, life is a mixture of good and bad. If you long for everlasting peace and bliss, only spirituality and surrender can grant you the precious gifts. We must eschew the ego first and abhor selfishness. Selfless love is the key to everlasting joy.

There is nothing wrong to remain in the worldly environment. A family man has equal freedom to choose spirituality like a recluse in forest. It is our attitude, which is important. We may do our duties to the family. The only difference is that we must renounce the idea that we are working for the sake of family. Ego is a subtle anthakarana(inner instrument). We are born in this world to work for the uplift of fellow beings in society. Of course, our immediate family is also a part of the society. But the main drawback is 'many people concentrate only for the welfare of their own kith and kin and do not bother about the 'unfortunate many' in the society. While feeding the family, we must also ensure that we feed the poor and hungry realising the truth of 'fatherhood of god and brotherhood of man'. Latest scientific theories also prove that the entire cosmos is one mass of energy and vibration and there is no difference or distinction. Even the scriptures proclaim that "All this is enveloped by God". Call Him by any name, in any tongue, from anywhere in the world. He is sure to answer our prayer if they emanate sincerely from our hearts. He listens even to the tiny ants foot steps. Hence commune with Him as a friend, He will answer your talk, every time without fail. Have absolute faith in the Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscent God. Every thing will be well.

It is true that we live in this world amidst family and friends. It is not necessary to flee the home for meditations. It is the home environment which is best suited for meditation. Funny! Is it?. Imagine that a man, in order to escape the multifarious problems at home seeks asylum in an ashram of a guru. After listening to the man, the Guru sent him back to his home with an advise, which every one should hear. The guru told the disgrunted man, "If you are timid about the problems in home front, you can never remain peaceful in a forest. The forest has got ferocious animals which will devour you at any time. You are exposed to the dangers of gale of wind, torrential rain, and a forest fire may engulf at any time. Only if you are courageous, you can lead a life in forest. Moreover you should not mind the hunger and thirst. You can not get timely meals here. There is no hotel here. You have to be satisfied with tubers or leaves or fruits etc. If you are capable to the rigours of forest life, you can very well remain at home and do your spiritual practices by remaining 'indifferent' to the situations and people around. Actually, this is the condition of most of the people. Those who are away from the home, longs for the company of their parent, wife, children and kinsman. Those who are in a family longs to escape from those responsiblilities. If you can develop a sense of detachment while remaining in the family, you can advance in spirituality nonethless.

It is a fine journey so far as this blog is concerned. Many people who read the "Ramayana" find fault with Kaikeyi and Mandara. When Bharata himself condemned them while he went to the forest to bring back "Rama", it is the sage advise, Rama has given to "Bharata". Shri Rama councelled Bharata, that every thing happens as per the "Divine Plan" and Kaikeyi and Mandra played their part in the role. Shri Rama has incarnated for the specific purpose of killing those rakshasas who were at large. They have perpetrated the 'evil' or darkness. By slaying those few individual demons, Dharma could be restored back in society. For that very purpose, the plot of 'abduction of mother Sita by Ravana', the maiming of the nose and ears of "Surpanaka" etc took place exactly as planned by the Divine will. The service rendered by Vayuputra Hanuman to the Lord, and the denizens of monkey kingdom who were part of the great search for "Sita" are all part of the plan. Hence, we have to understand the theme behind "Ramayana". It is not a mere story, as thought by many. Rama came for the very purpose of establishing "Dharma"(Righteousness") in human conduct in the society and towards their parent, wife, kith and kin etc. Shri Rama never exhibited the Divinity of Himself. He mostly behaved as a "Raja kumara". Being a Kshatriya, he took upon himself, the task of punishing the evil doers and protecting the sages and saints who dwell in the forest. The epic Ramayana will be sung by many generations to come for it is "Immortal" like the name of Rama.

Happy "makara sankaranthi" to all my readers and friends there in the blogs. In South India, the festival is celeberated as a 'harvest festival'. The riot after toiling for many days and months in the fields ultimately reaps the products of his labour. He and his family with friends now celeberate the harvest with sweet puddings made from the harvested rice in new earthernware. Every body in the family wears new cloths and celeberate this with thanksgiving to the 'sun god' and the cows and bulls which helped him in many ways. In North also the festival is celeberated in a different way. People take bath in holy rivers and 'sangam'. The sun commence his northward journey.
If we look at the world and the seasons that comes one after other, we have to appreciate the supreme will which created all this with perfect symmetry and design. If you take up the elements like, earth, water, fire, air and sky, they never changes their essential traits from the moment they came into existence. Even worms, birds, animals and other denizens of the forest behave in their natural way. They never imitate. Their habits, food, dwelling etc remain the same for ever. But take the case of man. He is the most advanced in creation compared to other species. But see his traits. He never adheres human traits. Mankind should possess truth, wisdom, kindness, co-existence in a harmonious manner with the nature, love and non-violence. But almost the entire human kind baring a miniscule exhibits animality in their behaviour. They covet others wealth and properties. They do not exhibit any devotion or discipline in any field. Their only aim seems to be "Earn by hook or crook" and enjoy the life as per the dictates of mind. Surely, we are not created to act like animals. We have forgotton our precious culture and copy others(western society). It is not proper. Our land is one of sacrifice and service. Since we start following alien cultures, our family values are eroded. Elderly people end up in asylum or orphanages. There is no co-operation between husband and wife. How the children will grow up in such an atmosphere. Hence there is strife in every family. When the elders realise the fragmentation of society and family, they lament in their old age. In one way the parents are responsible for the behaviour of children. If there is harmony in the house, there will be order in the society. Teach the children while they are young, noble qualities, respect to elders and teachers and good behaviour. They have to be taught the great culture of our land and the life and teachings of great saints like Shri Ramakrishna, Shri Vivekananda. They should learn about prophets of great religion like Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Jainism. They should be taught values like Truth, love, non violence etc in those tender ages. They should be taught small couplets of hymns in praise of god and godess. In course of time they will change their behaviour and start emulating our culture.

i simply reproduce what the saints, prophets and other great people of our land has said and written earlier. Also when i feel, that their observations are apt to the current situations prevailing in our country and elsewhere, it impresses me much. No doubt, most of the readers are well aware of the teachings of saints of yore, it is only to refresh them on the great truths, i post. While posting in the blog, i too recapitulate the readings from my memory. But whatever is said, unless one puts into practice in actual day to day life, it will have no effect. We have seen emotions like anger etc rise in us mysteriously when we interact in society. No doubt, it harms our health. Whenever you feel that you are succumbing to 'anger', move away from the place, drink a glass of water, and forget the circumstances which infuriated you. By this way, you can arrest further damages. First do not retaliate word to word. Keep mum. When one is possessed of anger, he looses his sense of discrimination and whatever he utters during his anger, is not real and contaminated. Hence if you move away from the place, you need not hear his further outbursts. Hope you will practice this great truth. Yes, i too experimented this.

How life will be felt if it is an 'even flow'? For instance you always enjoy the pleasures of the world, what will happen to you? The so called pleasures are really traps. When one of your so called 'friend' entices you into some habits which you will loath to cultivate, there will be 'repulsion' within your self. But if your will power is weak, you will be led into the habit. For instance you are taken to a bar for an introduction. Of course your friend will pay for the first time to lure you. After much coersion, you sip a little and find the taste very bitter. To assuage the taste buds, some hot chips are taken as side dish. Slowly the liquor give you an 'inebriated feeling'. you feel like 'floating'. You find it interesting. Next day, you automatically call your introducer to give you company and you foot the bill. The quantity is slightly increased and you find that you can maintain a semblance of balance. This is how all bad habits starts and in course of time, you will find that you can not get away so easily from those harmful habits.
You will like the cool shade of a tree, when you walk in the summer heat. The shade of a tree is appreciated only when you go through the gruelling heat. Likewise in life, the alternates serve to glorify each other. One saint has told, "Pleasure is the interval between two pains. But for the pain, you won't be able to appreciate the pleasure. This is the essential nature of duel world. If every thing is perfect, creation looses its charm. The valleys glorify the hill. Intense summer drives you to ice cream parlors. For instance if every body is good, what will happen? The bad people in society makes us to realise the goodness in other people. This is how creation is balanced. If there is no destruction, construction can not take place. Hence we find old tottered buildings built some 80 to 100 years ago are now demolished to replace with modern posh flats. Hence do not hate the bad in society. They too serve the society in a way. The thiefs make you to travel carefully and securedly. In certain villages in ancient society there was no locking system. All doors were kept open for people feared morality and every body adhered to moral values. Now everything is insecure. The credit cards, the ATM cards and other plastic cards need pin numbers to operate. We notice from the media many steal such vital information and withdraw cash fraudalantly. We invent new technologies. But they become the bane of the society.
